Our Ducks

At KNF Farms we have been growing and have added ducks. We currently have Silver Appleyard ducks and will soon be adding Black Swedish ducks.

Silver Appleyard

Silver Appleyard ducks are calm and make great barnyard pets. They grow to be 7-9 pounds and are friendly but not so much that they are under foot. They love treats such as mealworms and will eat right out of your hand. The drakes have a flashy iridescent green head and brilliant blue speculum feathers. The hens vary from a light tan to sometimes nearly white body with steaks of color around their eyes. The too can have the brilliant blue speculum feathers.

Silver Appleyard ducks are a great multi purpose duck. They are very good meat ducks and their size offers a higher volume of meat compared to many other breeds. They are very good layers averaging 120-175 eggs per year. Silver Appleyard ducks are one of few domestic breeds that will hatch and raise their own offspring however if you are looking to grow your flock incubation has the best success rate.

We are selling eggs for kitchen use. Duck eggs are roughly equivalent to 1.5 chicken eggs and are a richer, creamier flavor.

The eggs can also be used for hatching. There is no guarantee that eggs are fertile and will produce hatchlings.

We are also selling hatchlings of the Silver Appleyard. We do not always have hatchlings available but if you are interested you can reach out to us and we can typically have some available within about a month.
